Are there fines or fees for overdue, lost or damaged material?

Answer

For items Kettering University Library owns:

The library does not charge overdue fines for most items. However, if you are very late turning in an item, the system may consider it lost. In this case, you will be charged for the value of the book, plus processing fees, to replace the item. Restrictions can and will be placed on your library account and your Banner account if you fail to turn in the item or pay for its replacement. For more detailed information, check out our Library Policies.

For items borrowed using Materials on Demand:

Yes. Some libraries do charge fines or fees for overdue, lost, or damaged material. All students, faculty, and staff are responsible for any fines or fees for overdue, lost, or damaged material obtained through the Materials on Demand service. Failure to pay these fees will result in a library hold and a block on your Banner account.

  • If you should lose or damage a borrowed book, you may not supply a replacement
  • The lending library will supply an invoice for damaged or lost books, and the patron shall reimburse the library in US Dollars
  • Kettering Library will not issue a refund for lost books once charges are paid to the lending library
